According to court documents, Julian Jakeem Wilson, 35, of Hammond, is facing a misdemeanor charge after police say he threw a dog to the ground during a domestic disturbance Wednesday evening.

Officers were dispatched around 9:08 p.m. on June 4 to the 6600 block of Idaho Avenue in Hammond for a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, police made contact with Wilson, who advised that he wanted his dog returned to him by a woman involved in the dispute.  

According to court records, the woman brought the dog outside and attempted to return it to Wilson. Police said the pair began arguing, and after Wilson obtained possession of the dog, he allegedly began demanding dog food before throwing the dog toward the woman.  

An officer reported observing Wilson toss the dog onto the ground, causing the animal to bounce and yelp. Police then detained Wilson and placed him in a squad car.  

Court documents state officers learned Wilson had an alleged parole violation out of Muncie.

Lodged in the Lake County Jail.
