All Eastbound Lanes Of 80/94 Shut Down At Calumet
Indiana State Police and Hammond EMA have the the Eastbound Lanes of 80/94 shutdown completely for a fatal accident. The accident is located at MM 2.5 between Calumet & Indianapolis. Hammond Fire Department did transport two patients to local hospitals. They tell us it’s a three vehicle crash involving one semi. We are on scene and expecting a briefing shortly from Indiana State Police. There is approximately one hundred cars stuck between the accident and Calumet Ave that can’t move for at least an hour or two according to emergency personnel. A witness on scene reported a car weaving and speeding through traffic before the accident. A few cars next to us here have died out and will need to be towed or jumped as well. We have updates as they become available.
UPDATE – ISP WILL BE OPENING THE SHOULDER SOON FOR CARS STUCK.
