Chicago Felon Caught With Two Guns After Threatening To Shoot Up Gas Station

On November 6, 2020 East Chicago Police were dispatched to the Mobile Gas Station located at 2220 E. Columbus Drive in reference to a male and female threatening to shoot the place up, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera.

Responding officers were given a description of both parties after they fled the area on foot. Officer Buchanan located two individuals fitting the description on the 3700 block of Deodar Street, so he conducted an investigatory stop.

A female subject later identified as 25 year old Brianna Schleicher of Portage, Indiana became verbally aggressive and began to impede Officers from conducting the investigatory stop, Rivera said. Officers continued their investigation and conducted an outer frisk for weapons on the male subject who was later identified as 24 year old Ernest C. Willis of Chicago, Illinois. During the frisk Officers recovered 1 loaded semiautomatic Glock 19 handgun from his waistband and another loaded semiautomatic Glock 17 handgun from his sweater pocket, Rivera stated.

The female companion Brianna Schleicher immediately began to utter that the guns were hers and that she had a valid gun permit. Officer Buchanan checked the status of her gun permit and it came back expired in 2017. Ernest C. Willis did not have a gun permit and his criminal history came back as a convicted felon.

Both parties were placed under arrest and held on probable cause charges of gun no permit, felon in possession of a handgun, intimidation & disorderly conduct, Police said. Ernest C. Williams made several threats to our Officers to include threatening to shoot them once he’s released. This case was assigned to A.T.F. Task force Investigator Phillip Fabian.

All parties are innocent until proven guilty.
