Door Dasher Robs Cedar Lake Family

On Saturday, March 16, 2024 at approximately 10:00 PM Cedar Lake Police were called regarding an armed robbery that occurred in the 13300 block of Edison St., according to Cedar Lake Police.

The homeowner/victims reported they ordered food through DoorDash which was delivered by Noah Villarreal an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Crown Point.

After the delivery and once the order was opened the victims realized they had gotten their order and someone else’s order. Noah Villarreal returned along with Jaylaun Williams a 20-year-old black male from East Chicago. An argument ensued on the front porch of the victim’s house, which turned into a physical altercation when Noah attempted to punch the homeowner. At that moment Jaylaun Williams pulled out a 38 special handgun and pointed it at the two homeowners, while Jaylaun and Noah rushed into the victim’s house. Jaylaun continued to threaten both homeowners while pointing the loaded handgun at them and yelling and cursing.

The homeowners pleaded with Jaylaun and Noah and gave them $121.00 in cash. Jaylaun and Noah then fled and got into Noah’s 2017 black Lincoln MKZ leaving the area.

The incident was recorded on a home security video camera, which made for positive identification of both Noah Villarreal and Jaylaun Williams. Sgt. Ryan Miller, Cpl. Richard Pennington and Drone Pilot Shaun Meyer responded immediately to the scene. It was found that Noah and Jaylaun both had dropped their cell phones at the scene while fleeing. Officer Meyer was able to locate the subjects in their vehicle parked at the end of Edison St. going south at a dead end. The vehicle was parked in the dark in a driveway and was found using heat detection
from the drone.

Both Noah Villarreal and Jaylaun Williams were taken into custody and later lodged in the Lake County Jail awaiting charges. Jaylaun Williams also had a warrant for his arrest out of Elkhart. All related evidence was recovered at the scene, along with a female passenger who is the girlfriend of Jaylaun Williams, who was not charged at this time.

The Cedar Lake Police Department commended their Officers for their quick response and professional police work that resulted in the capture of these suspects. They also thanked the Lake County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance during this incident.
