3 Dead After Possible Murder / Suicide Friday
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting at a home in the 600 block of Colfax St. near Griffith, around 2 PM, Friday, according to Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.
Police officers found three subjects with apparent gunshot wounds. Two people are confirmed dead and one was in critical condition and transported but later succumbed to his injuries.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department detectives are investigating several factors including whether the incident may have been a murder/suicide.
The deceased from this incident have been identified by the Lake County Coroner as Marshall Lawson Jr., 69, of Hammond. Lawson’s death was ruled a homicide. The second victim was identified as Robert Secviar, 63, of Griffith. Secviar’s death was ruled a homicide. The third subject was identified as John G. Stefanich, 67, of Highland and his manner of death is pending.
