Easter Bunny Escorted Through The Region By Firefighters This Weekend

Cities across the entire “Region” this weekend had a special treat for residents from local Fire & Police Departments. Many Region departments including Cedar Lake, Lake Station, Dyer, Chesterton, and Munster had a special escort / parade down every street in their municipalities for the Easter Bunny.

With social distancing and stay at home orders in place departments felt the need to help the bunny get around a little easier so all the kids could say hi. In Munster today the Easter Bunny parade started at 9am on the Northeast section of town and worked its way down each and every street. As of 3pm fire officials were just getting near 45th approaching the South section of Munster.

Many departments are also making special trips and parades for children’s birthdays. They have a full line of emergency vehicles drive by the home of the child to wish them a Happy Birthday. This is especially for kids 12 and under. Police said other special exceptions can be made by contacting your local Police Department.
