EC Little Caesar’s Shooter Arrested Friday
On 06/13/2021 at approx. 10:00 P.M. East Chicago Officers were dispatched to the area of Little Caesar’s Pizza located at 4739 Indianapolis Blvd. in reference to shots fired, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera. Shot Spotter alerted to 20 rounds being fired in the parking lot directly in front of Little Caesar’s Pizza.
Officers arrived on scene and were advised that a male black with braids, wearing a white t-shirt, shot into the store from outside in the parking lot then fled on foot southbound. Nobody was injured, but the store sustained damage to the windows and glass door.
On 06/18/2021 East Chicago Detective Ponce filed 5 felony counts of Criminal Recklessness and 2 misdemeanor counts of Criminal Mischief against Deonte C. Rice of East Chicago. The ECPD Patrol Division took Deonte C. Rice into custody at his residence located at 4805 Indianapolis Blvd. Friday afternoon without incident. Patrol Officers also recovered narcotics and a firearm from his residence, Rivera stated. Deonte C Rice is currently at the East Chicago Police Department Jail awaiting transport to the Lake County Sheriff Department Jail.
