EC Police Chase Ends In SWAT Standoff In Chicago
Around 12:30 AM Saturday East Chicago Police were called for loud music. Police a encountered a man in a stolen vehicle that rammed an East Chicago squad car and pursuit began.
Police chased the vehicle Northbound up the Bishop Ford & Dan Ryan to Lake Shore Drive where the suspect only had one wheel left on the vehicle. During the pursuit the suspect rammed multiple police cars and a rim off the suspect vehicle flew off and hit an officers windshield. The suspect then turned back Southbound down the Dan Ryan where police continued to chase the car on one wheel. The vehicle stalled on 99th & Jeffery in Chicago where the suspect refused to exit the car. Chicago SWAT was called in and a two hour long stand off with the suspect ensued. Multiple shots are believed to have been fired by the suspect at this scene.
Around 3AM the suspect was taken into custody by Chicago SWAT. We will have further updates and details on this situation Saturday afternoon.
