Park West Apartments Implements New Parking Policies

Park West Apartments in Griffith began a new resident parking program that went into affect the first week of December. Residents whose name are on the lease were required to register to get a resident parking sticker for their vehicles in an effort to clean up the complex which added extra security and a 24/7 security guards for check ins at the one open entrance now at each complex. Guests of residents would be issued a 24 hour parking pass as well when they check in to guard booth. Residents were notified about the upcoming changes via email, text, letters, and phone calls to make sure everyone knew about the new policy. Residents were given 30 days to comply and then an extra month before the towing began. “Park West is doing this to better serve residents and keep them safe,” according to Chris Smith, Owner of ROCS Towing LLC. ROCS Towing out of Gary was awarded the contract to begin removing unauthorized vehicles. “We began on January 8th with the Southside complex and last night began working the North complex,” Smith told RNS. “In the last week ROCS has towed around 350 vehicles, Smith said. “Out of those 350 cars only 23 were Indiana plated, the rest were Illinois and non registered residents,” Smith said. Smith continued to say, “No other towing company is pro-active like us, we put boots on the ground from 6 PM to 6 AM seven days a week.” This is welcoming news to many Griffith residents who have been complaining of the out of state plates and recent crime that has plagued the complex over the last few years.
