EC Police Respond To 18 Year Old Shot
On Friday, September 3, 2021 at approximately 7:44 PM, East Chicago Police were dispatched to the area of 4932 Reading Avenue in reference to shots fired, also Shot Spotter alerted to 6 rounds fired in the vicinity of 4922 Reading Avenue, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera.
Upon Officers arrival they heard numerous people yelling in front of 4932 Reading Avenue. Officers proceeded to that location and located an adult male victim, later identified as a 18 year old from Gary, Indiana lying on the floor of an apartment. The victim suffered one gunshot wound on the left side of the body just below the rib cage, Rivera stated. The victim was transported to St. Catherine Hospital by medics for treatment. The victim was listed in serious condition by St. Catherine Hospital and later transported to the University of Chicago Hospital.
