Fatal Bike vs Motorcycle Crash In Merrillville
On 8/12/2023 at approximately 9:30 PM, Merrillville Police Officers responded to the 8800 block of Taft Street reference to a crash involving a motorcycle and a bicycle.
Officers arrived on scene and located both occupants of the motorcycle. The occupants of the motorcycle both had significant injuries from the crash and were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Officers searched the area and located the cyclist in the grassy area next to the roadway.
Medics on scene checked the cyclist and advised that the cyclist was deceased as
a result of the crash. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Merrillville Detectives and the Merrillville Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to start their investigation. Taft Street was closed for several hours as a result of this investigation.
