Fatal Crash Friday Closed River Oaks Dr
On Friday, May 20, 2022 at approximately 5:00 PM, Calumet City Police and Fire Personnel responded to the intersection of River Oaks Drive and Arthur Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a Dodge sedan and a Ford sedan, according to Calumet City Police.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene and immediately began rendering aid to the injured. The driver and passenger of the Ford were transported to a local trauma center in critical condition, police told RNS. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
The driver of the Ford, a 46 year old female, later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The passenger of the Ford, an 8 year old male, remains in critical condition. The Cook County Medical Examiners Office has not released the drivers name.
The crash remains under investigation by the Calumet City Police Department and the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information is requested to call the Calumet City Police Department at 708-868-2500.
