Female Shot During Altercation Police Said
On Monday, December 7th, 2020 at approximately 8:35 P.M., the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to a person that was shot in the 1000 block of Indiana State Road 212, according to Michigan City Police.
Officers were dispatched to this area and found an adult female suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound along with other injuries stemming from an altercation, police said in a release Tuesday. Responding officers determined the shooting took place at a nearby residence and were able to identify a suspect. The victim was transported to Franciscan Health Michigan City for medical treatment due to the injuries she sustained from this incident.
The MCPD Investigative Division was immediately contacted and began an investigation. The crime scene was processed, and interviews were conducted with those involved in this incident. The suspect has been detained while this case is still being reviewed by the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office for criminal charges to be filed.
