Full Update On Gary Standoff Situation

Gary Police Officers went to 6100 West 36th Ave around 1:14 PM Tuesday to attempt to locate a male individual who had an active warrant and to follow up on an investigation, according to Commander Jack Hamady of The Gary Police.

When officers arrived the male that was positively Identified as the wanted individual fled from officers back into the trailer, Hamady said. While officers were getting up to the trailer they encountered a dog that had to be secured. That is when the individual possibly had fled out the rear of the trailer, police said.

A perimeter was established around the trailer while officers called for assistance and a police canine. Officers did not have any contact with the occupants and made entry around 2:30PM, Hamady said. There were no adult males inside the residence other than an infant child found. The trailer was secured and the infant was reunited with mother.    

Munster Police canine assisted as well as Griffith Police for a perimeter  The male individual remains at large and at this time.  Suspect at large is Orlando Burgos, 30 year old male.
