Gary Police Investigating Homicide At Tire Shop
On Monday, August 29, 2022 at approximately 4:59 PM a Gary Police Officer on patrol was waved down by a concerned citizen at Ridge Road and Georgia Street, according to Commander Jack Hamady. The concerned citizen advised there was an active shooter shooting into a business just east of their location.
The officer notified dispatch and proceeded to the area and located a male who identified himself and advised he had suffered from a gunshot wound to his right leg. He also advised that his friend had been shot as well.
As officers arrived on scene and secured the location Gary Fire Department arrived on scene and advised the second male that was located was lifeless and did not have a pulse. This male was identified as Said Saad, 47, from East Chicago, Indiana. The second male was transported to Methodist Hospital for his wound. He was identified as a 27 year old male from Valparaiso, Indiana who is believed to be in good condition.
The suspect is described as a male black subject approximately 5’10” with a thin build. The suspect is armed and dangerous and fled the area in a dark colored sedan vehicle, Hamady stated.
Family and friends on scene believe the deceased victim to be the owner of Happy Way Tire Shop.
