Good Samaritan Saves Drowning Boy At Lake George
Around 4 PM Saturday a group of kids were playing on the dock at Festival Park / Lake George in Hobart when a 12 year old boy and a few others jumped into the water to cool off. This wasn’t the children’s first time doing this but on this jump the boy said his hand slipped away from the dock and he was pulled into the lake. The boy who is not a good swimmer began to splash around as he was pulled further from the dock. The boys sister who was nearby seen him struggling and began to yell for help.
A separate mother who was with her daughter near the park said she had watched the children jump in and out through the afternoon while holding on to the dock with no issues. As the mother and her daughter walked back from the Food Trucks she heard a little girl screaming for help. The little girl was saying, “I don’t think he can swim, I don’t know if he’s joking or not!” The mother who noticed the screams for help now identified as Bryanna Olavarria looked around to see if anyone else was paying attention. The boy, who she said was struggling for air appeared to not have much time left to wait for help. Bryanna took immediate action and jumped into the lake. The mother of the boy in the water who was near by saw Bryanna and said, “she just came out of no where with no hesitation just dove in shoes and fully clothed.”
Bryanna grabbed the boy and pulled him towards her. Another woman and man came to the dock and assisted pulling both of them out of the water. “There were so many people around who didn’t jump into action and she came out of no where like an angel and saved him,” the mother of the boy told RNS. The boy is safe and healthy thanks to the quick actions of Bryanna, a Good Samaritan.
