Griffith Shooting Sunday Leaves Two Shot & Damages Cars
On July 5, 2020, at approximately 2:00am, Griffith officers were dispatched to 1957 N Arbogast Ave, located in the Park West apartment complex, in response to calls of shots being fired with a subject suffering a gunshot wound, according to Chief Mance of the Griffith Police.
Through the course of the initial investigation, it was determined that a resident of Park West Apartments was hosting a party when unruly persons arrived. Upon the removal of these persons from the apartment, gunfire erupted from the group, striking two subjects, Mance said. Officers recovered multiple rifle casings on the ground in the area and a search using K9’s initiated which tracked through a wooded area.
A 20 year old Lansing, IL man was transported to Gary Northlake Methodist Hospital for his injuries which were determined to be non-life threatening.
A 27 year old Harvey, IL man transported himself to the hospital for treatment of a graze wound. Several resident’s vehicles near the scene were found to have been damaged by stray bullets.
