Group of Females Kick Off Another Fight At Southlake Mall
On Friday, July 24, 2020 at approximately 1:10 PM, Hobart Officers were working a security detail for a shoe release at an athletic store on the mall, according to Captain James Gonzales of The Hobart Police. The Officers working security were alerted to a fight occurring in the mall and responded to the area and noticed females fighting with one another and mall security personnel attempting to break up the females fighting with one another. A Hobart Officer attempted to arrest one of the females and started to resist the Officer and became combative with the Officer. The Officer was able to take the female into custody, but suffered some minor cuts and scratches on his face and arms as result of her arrest, Gonzales stated. The females face charges of Resisting Law Enforcement/ Battery on Law Enforcement/ Battery/ Disorderly Conduct.
Three females were taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail for processing.

Female/ 32 years of age/ Chicago Heights, Illinois Female/ 26 years of age/ Hobart, Indiana Female / 26 years of age/ Gary, Indiana
A video on social media shows the group throwing punches and pulling hair out while in the corridor of the mall. Numerous security guards attempted to break the physical dispute up until Hobart Police arrived. Stores went on lockdown and shut their gates as onlookers were stunned at another fight in the mall. Since the reopening of the mall after the quarantine lockdown there has been close to 10 large fights leading to numerous arrests over the last 3 months.
Southlake Mall did not answer questions regarding safety on this incident or previous incidents.

This is getting pathetic. Can’t believe people can’t respect each other. These aren’t teenagers. These are adults. Discussing. Don’t let them post bond right away make them think about they’re actions.
