Hammond / Griffith Bank Robber Captured
On September 16th, at approximately 3:55 p.m., Hammond police were dispatched to First Midwest Bank located around 6611 Kennedy Ave. in reference to a a bank robbery. A second bank robbery occurred on Friday, September 18th, in Griffith at The First Midwest Bank located at 915 W. Glen Park Ave.
The investigation led to the arrest or charging of a suspect in the bank robbery. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Terrance W. Brown from Harvey, Illinois, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police. Brown was located and taken into custody in Harvey on September 23rd and faces the charge of Bank Robbery.
Mr. Brown is currently in custody in the Porter County Jail. The FBI GRIT task force led the investigation and thanked the Hammond Police Department, the Griffith Police Department, and the Indiana State Police for their assistance.
