Hammond Man Shot Multiple Times At His Home Over Dispute
On March 24th, at approximately 12:20 PM, Hammond police responded to the 7300 block of New Hampshire Ave. in reference to shots fired, Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police told RNS. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old male who stated that a subject known to him came to his home and began arguing with him about a vehicle. As the argument continued, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple times at the victim striking him several times in the stomach, Kellogg stated. The suspect fled in a smaller, white vehicle and has not been located at this time. Another involved party, a 24-year-old black male, was located a short distance from the scene and was taken into custody, Kellogg said. This subject is being investigated for his possible involvement.
The shooting suspect is described as a black male in his early 20’s. This was an isolated incident and the victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition. Update– On March 27th, The Hammond Police Department SWAT team served an arrest warrant at the Park West Apartments in Griffith and arrested 23-year-old Alize M. Hicks from Chicago. On March 28th, Hicks was charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery and is in custody at the Lake County Jail.
