Indiana COVID-19 Update For Saturday
The Indiana State Department of Health released their updated case numbers for the Coronavirus earlier this morning. Total positive cases throughout the state is 1,232 and 31 deaths. Lake County having 68 of those confirmed cases according to their website and 1 of those deaths. Globally 618k people have been positive cases, with a 137k recovered. 28,823 deaths reported worldwide with 1,709 deaths here in the US, according to NIISSA updates. Hundreds of cases are still awaiting test results in this county as well as tests confirming earlier deaths this week.
However, Mayor Jerome Prince gave the residents of Gary a different update via Facebook video. Starting his briefing he announced that the City has 12 confirmed cases. “I am deeply saddened to report that Methodist Hospital Southlake, has reported two Covid-19 deaths. On behalf of our family and our city, I extend our deepest condolences to the families,” City of Gary Mayor Jerome Prince stated. The Mayor continued to say that he expects the number of deaths to rise significantly and rapidly.
