Juvenile Reports Stranger Attempted To Lure Her In Van
A female juvenile reported that on Friday, August 28th at approximately 6:55AM while waiting for a bus near the area of Adelaide Place and Hohman Avenue, she was approached by a white van, described as a cargo van with no exterior windows, according to Munster Police.
The juvenile advised that the vehicle was being driven by a white male with gray hair and a gray moustache. The driver reportedly asked the juvenile to come into his van because he had puppies, and the juvenile ran from the area screaming for help. The juvenile advised that the driver of the van waved to her as she ran away and left the area northbound on Hohman Avenue.
The Munster Police Department encourages parents to speak with their children about strangers regularly and to encourage them to stay alert and aware of their surroundings. Parents of small children are also encouraged to wait with them at bus stops or to walk them to school for their safety. Always report suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
