Lake County Health Extends Drive Thru Testing

The Lake County Health Department has extended drive-thru testing outside the Lake County Health Department located at 2900 W 93rd Ave in Crown Point. This is open to anyone 2 years of age or older that lives or works in Indiana.

Testing was originally set to end Saturday October 24 at 6pm. The extension of testing is set to begin Tuesday October 27th through October 31 from 9am-5pm.

The test for ages 2-11 is a nasal swab that is only used in the nostrils with 2-3 seconds of a swab rolled inside each nostril. Kids should know it doesn’t hurt at all and some described it as a tickle.

Those age 12 and older will be administered a longer swab that extends into the sinuses. Concerns or fears over this test are usually exaggerated and there is no need to be scared.

There is no charge for the testing and no appointment needed. Please follow the signs posted and direction of personnel on site. The results will be delivered via text message or email depending on what you choose at registration.
