Male Recovered In Submerged Car In Wolf Lake

On Tuesday, May 4th, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Hammond Police & Fire were dispatched to the 2200 block of Calumet Ave. in reference to a car that was in Wolf Lake, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg.

Officers located the vehicle completely submerged in the lake and the tracks appeared to come from the bike path. The Hammond Fire Department removed the vehicle from the lake using a winch and dive team.

Divers located a male driver deceased in the driver’s seat. No other occupants were located inside the vehicle, Kellogg said. It is not known if drugs or alcohol played a part in the incident.

The drivers identity is pending notification of family.
