Man Charged In Steger Homicide
On 01/01/2020 around 7:30 AM the Steger Police Department responded to 3602 Chicago Road in reference to a wellbeing check, Steger Police Chief Rossi said. Upon arrival Officers located a 28 year old male, deceased in the residence. Officers secured the scene and awaited Detectives. Officers and Detectives noted the male appeared to have been in a fight based on the scene. The male was identified as Ryan S. Connell, of Steger.
The Will County Coroner’s Office determined Connell suffered multiple stab wounds, which contributed to his death.
Detectives from the Steger Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force worked tirelessly conducting numerous interviews and obtaining statements. Through their investigation it was determined Richard H. Proctor, 25 years old of Steger, was the offender. Detectives arrested Richard at the Will County Courthouse where he was scheduled for an unrelated court case.
The case facts were presented to the Will County State’s Attorney Office, who approved a charge and arrest warrant for First Degree Murder against Richard.
Richard was processed and brought to the Will County Jail where he will appear at a Bond Hearing.
