Man Charged With Stabbing Grandparents In Unincorporated Dyer

Lake County Police were called to a multiple stabbing on the 8500 block of Towle St in Dyer around 10:30pm Tuesday. Two victims now known to be grandparents of the suspect were stabbed multiple times in their home according to Police. The grandmother 73 and Grandfather 70 years old. Police say the grandmother called the police saying her grandson was stabbing her and her husband. The victims grandson, a 22-year-old resident of the same house was taken into custody on scene last night in front of RNS. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and upset. He was taken to an area hospital to be checked out due to his behavior. Charges are pending through Lake County.

Both victims were transported by Superior Ambulance to area hospitals. The grandfather was later airlifted in critical condition to a Chicago Hospital.

St. John & Dyer Police assisted the Sheriffs Office in an area search for a female who was believed to be a witness.
