Merrillville Police Chief Makes Good On His Word
As Merrillville Police Chief Cuttino said in the past, he is a big believer in training for officers and he wants more of it. Chief Cuttino made good on his word and sought out the help of a professional.
On 08/31/2021, officers of the Merrillville Police Department participated in physical tactics training with special guest instructor Razor Rob McCollough. McCullough is a retired professional American Muay Thai kickboxer and professional mixed martial artist who currently trains and coaches in both.
Chief Cuttino feels that the more hands on defensive tactics training officers receive, the more tools they have at their disposal to diffuse physical situations. This leaves less of a likelihood for injuries to both officers and suspects. Most importantly this greatly reduces the likelihood of lethal use of force. “Chief looks forward to more realistic hands on training like this for his officers,” he told RNS.
