Motorcycle Strikes Median Sending Rider To Hospital
A single bike motorcycle accident occurred last night shortly before 1am on the overpass of Burr St in Gary Sunday morning injuring one rider. Witnesses on scene say the motorcycle exited 80/94 and attempted to go Southbound on Burr through a construction zone and failed to see the median striking it and throwing the man from his bike and landing on the Northbound lanes. The bike landed about 50ft from where the male fell off blocking traffic in the one lane construction zone leading to police to shutdown the overpass till crews could clear the scene. The rider was taken to an area hospital an unknown condition after he was stabilized at the scene. The ongoing construction near the new casino and dimly lit area makes the area extra challenging to maneuver through.
