Multiple Alarm Fire At Dairy Farm

On June 13th at approximately 10:12 PM, the Lake County 911 center received multiple 911 calls of a large fire near E. 121st Avenue and Iowa Street, according to Crown Point Fire Officials. Upon arrival, Crown Point Fire Rescue crews encountered a large hay barn engulfed in flames. Mutual aid was requested, including water tankers due to the fire being in an area with no hydrants.  

There were no injuries as a result of the fire and no animals were harmed, officials told RNS. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews were on scene for approximately 4-½ hours and mutual aid was provided by 16 different departments.  

Crown Point Fire Rescue thanked Lake County 911, Lake County Police, and all of the mutual aid fire departments for their assistance with this difficult fire.  Fire Departments that responded to assist: Boone Grove, Cedar Lake, Dyer, Griffith, Hebron, Hobart, Lake Hills, Lake Ridge, Lake Station, Lakes of the Four Seasons, Lowell, Merrillville, Munster, Schererville, St. John, and Union Township.
