Munster, EC, & Hebron Schools Reporting COVID-19 Cases

Thursday morning parents of students at Frank H. Hammond Elementary School in Munster received notification of a positive COVID-19 case with a student. The School stated they are following proper protocol and have been in contact with The Lake County Health Department. The Health Department is not requiring any other students or faculty to quarantine since no student or staff were within 6ft of the student for longer then 15 minutes the release stated. The school states it will continue cleaning and disinfecting all areas determined to be utilized by the affected person along with the rest of the building.

In East Chicago at McKinley Elementary a letter was sent out informing parents that several staff members tested positive for COVID-19. This resulted in closing fourth grade classes and having teachers teach remotely for the week. The school closed until Monday to ensure a deep cleaning could be done. The school advised parents to monitor themselves and students daily for symptoms.

In Hebron the schools received notification of a staff member testing positive. The staff member did not come into contact with any students and is in self quarantine. The case has no connection to any other cases reported the school said.
