Munster Police Name Wanted Men Involved In Shooting At Munster Tobacco
On December 23, 2019 the Munster Police Department responded to the parking lot of Munster Tobacco and Hookah, 7950 Calumet Avenue for a report of “shots fired”. Upon the officer’s arrival there were no reports of injuries although there was damage to the building and two vehicles that were in the parking lot, Lt. John Peirick of The Munster Police stated. It was quickly learned that this was an isolated incident between two groups of individuals who were in the middle of a feud involving a female.
The Munster Police Department was able to determine that four individuals arrived in the parking lot of Munster Tobacco and Hookah at approximately 10:30pm in three vehicles with the intent to confront the business owner over what had been said about the female, Peirick said.
All four suspects exited their vehicles, approached the store, where they began to vandalize both the inside and outside of the business and multiple shots were fired. Witnesses who messaged RNS said he entered the store and began to break glass shelves, hookahs, and pipes. During all this the store owner’s brother arrived on scene and fired his handgun in the direction of the four suspects, Peirick said. Region News learned the owners family vehicle was the maroon Jeep SUV that crashed in front of the building. All four suspects then fled back to their vehicles where one of the suspects got back out of his vehicle and began to charge at the brother, firing multiple times in his direction, Peirick said. Two guns were recovered from the parking lot during the investigation.
The four suspects have been identified as Frank Sabbah, 68 of Munster IN; Munadel Jebreen, 39 of Lansing Il; Abdal Hassouna, 30 of Oak Lawn Il; and Rami Jabarin, 37 of Burbank Il, and each were charged with attempted murder, attempted battery by means of a deadly weapon and criminal recklessnessas a result of their actions.
