Merrillville Police Investigating Overnight Homicide
The Lake County Coroner was dispatched to the 5400 block of Maryland St in Merrillville at 3:15am Wednesday morning for a gun shot victim. Merrillville Police Commander Jeff Rice told Region News they were dispatched at 3AM for a shots fired call in the area. While officers were checking the area they were told of a man down in the backyard of a home, Rice said.
The victim has now been identified as Jeremiah Simon, 18, of Merrillville. Simon sustained multiple gun shot wounds, The Lake County Coroner has stated.
