New Chicago Receives Two Grants From IPEP

The New Chicago Police Department received a $9,600.00 safety grant which will be utilized to replace old Bullet Proof Vests and to provide new and improved safety equipment to help officer’s stay safe and better protect the citizens of New Chicago. The water department also received a $9,000 safety grant which will be used to purchase equipment needed to increase safety within the streets and water department.

This is the first time ever since IPEP (Indiana Public Employers’ Plan) has been awarding the grant that the Town of New Chicago has won the award. “It was amazing that not only did the Town of New Chicago win this grant, but two departments won the grant and received 100% of what was requested,” said New Chicago Police Chief Bill Perry.
