One Male Shot At Lake Station Bar Saturday Morning
Shortly before 2AM early Saturday morning one male was shot in his neck near the old Ruthies Bar which is now My Bar / Mi Canta located on the 3400 block of Central Ave in Lake Station, according to Lake Station Police Chief James Richardson.
Three male Hispanic suspects walked into the bar and began to get into an altercation with some subjects sitting at the bar. A few people in the bar tried to calm the suspects down before at least two of the suspects pulled out guns and began firing, according to Richardson. Two shots were fired into the ceiling before the suspects began shooting at least a dozen more shots inside and outside the front doors of the establishment, Richardson told RNS.
One male believed to be in his 30’s was shot in his neck who was not involved in the altercation. The victim and a female left and began to drive to a local emergency room before they were stopped by Hobart Police who believed they might have been suspects in the shooting. The female with the gun shot victim was currently on the phone with 911 when they were stopped by Hobart Police in Portage on HWY 6 near El Pueblo Restaurant rushing to the ER. The victim is believed to be in stable condition and talking but was transported to a Chicago Hospital for his injuries.
