Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle On 30 Saturday In Schererville
Schererville Police & Fire responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian accident in the 1000 block of West US 30 near the Comfort Inn Saturday night around 9:57 PM, according to Schererville Police Commander Kevin Wagner.
UCAN – University of Chicago Aeromedical Network Helicopter was called in to transport the victim. A landing zone was setup in the Strack’s parking lot by The Schererville Fire Department & Lake Hills Fire Department. Ultimately the patient needed to be transported to Franciscan Dyer sooner after going into traumatic full arrest. A flight nurse rode on board the ambulance to assist with the transfer.
Unfortunately the pedestrian did not survive his injuries. At 11:17 PM Saturday The Lake County Coroner was dispatched to Franciscan Dyer. The decedent has been identified as Daniel Bandstra, 58, of St. John.
