Police Pursuit From Merrillville Ends In Schererville
On Monday, October 31, 2022, at approximately 9:43 PM, Merrillville Police Officers observed a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu traveling in the area of Whitcomb St. and 78th Pl. committing two traffic infractions, according to Merrillville Police. Merrillville Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle fled, leading officers on a pursuit into neighboring jurisdictions.
Stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle was eventually rendered inoperable in the area of Main St. and Pine St. in Schererville. The driver refused to exit the vehicle or comply with officers. The driver was removed from the vehicle and later identified as Nathan D. Cox, from Gary.
Cox was shown to have a warrant for his arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana. Cox was transported for medical evaluation from the scene, and additional charges are pending.
The Merrillville Police Department thanked all agencies who assisted in this incident.
