Portage Police Update On Shooting
Over the course of today’s investigation of the Portage shooting, police have learned a 27 year old male resident of Gary, arrived at his girlfriend’s residence around 5:15 A.M. He stated he was immediately fired upon by unknown suspects and struck in the buttocks, according to Portage Police Chief Candiano. The male subject stated he didn’t know who fired at him and he was unable to provide any description of them or any vehicles.
Witnesses described a dark colored SUV leaving the scene, but there was no further description of suspects or vehicles given. This investigation is ongoing, however we have received information this was an isolated incident related to a domestic issue and not a random act according to Police.
