Porter County Sheriff Office Receive Clean Air Municipal Award
The Porter County Sheriff’s Office is honored to announce that they were nominated,and have now been selected for, the 2021 Partners for Clean Air Municipal Award.
In July of 2020 Porter County Sheriff Office announced the addition of 11 new hybrid vehicles to the fleet that were acquired with the assistance of funds from the Indiana Office of Energy Development’s Indiana Rural Energy Innovation grant program. The department was very excited to partner with South Shore Clean Cities who wrote the successful grant application and serves as the project manager.
The vehicles were purchased from Lake Shore Motors (now Bosak) in Burns Harbor and they will be fueled with E15 from Valparaiso based, Family Express. E15 is a renewable, domestic fuel containing 15% ethanol, which is produced in Indiana.
Sheriff Reynolds said, “The Porter County Sheriff’s Office is honored to receive the 2021 Partners for Clean Air Municipal Award from the Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air. As Sheriff of Porter County, I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with PCA and do our part to improve not only air quality, but public health in Porter County. So far,the Porter County Sheriff’s Office is saving over $2,000 per vehicle in gas consumption savings every year. The action plan of having the entire police fleet completely Hybrid is on schedule.”
