One Injured & One Arrested In EC Crash

On April 30, 2021 at approximately 11:30AM East Chicago Police & Fire responded to an accident at the Luke’s Gas Station located at 5695 Indianapolis Blvd.

Witnesses stated that a black 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling in and out of the lane of traffic at a high rate of speed westbound on Michigan Avenue. Witnesses also stated that a white Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on Michigan Avenue when it made a left turn in front of the speeding Pontiac Grand Prix. The Grand Prix then struck the white Ford F150 forcing both vehicles to strike 2 separate light poles in the Luke’s Gas Station parking lot.

The driver of the Ford F150 was a 59 year old male of Hammond, Indiana. He was transported to St. Catherine Hospital with chest and back pain. The driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix was a 23 year old male from Gary, Indiana. He refused medical treatment and was transported to the East Chicago Police Department Jail, due to not having a valid driver’s license.
