Possible Narcotics Sale Ends With Chesterton Man Shot
On Sunday, April 5th, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Hammond Police responded to the 400 block of Gostlin Street in reference to shots fired, Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police told RNS. Evidence was recovered at the scene but no victim or suspects were present. Approximately one hour later, Hammond police responded to Community Hospital in reference to a 22-year-old male from Chesterton who walked into the emergency room with a grazing gunshot wound to his elbow, Kellogg said. Based on the information provided, detectives believe this to be related to a narcotics purchase. No vehicle or suspect information is available at this time due to an active investigation. The victim was released that evening from the hospital with minor injuries, Kellogg said.
