Merrillville Police Investigating Morning Shooting That Left Teen Dead
Merrillville Police are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead Tuesday morning around 2am. Police were called to 7300 block of Bigger St at an apartment complex for shots fired, according to Commander Jeff Rice of The Merrillville Police. They located a deceased female inside a vehicle, Rice stated. Police said this is an isolated incident.
The Lake County Coroner was called to the scene at 2:56am according to a release for a gun shot victim. The victim was identified as Tonya Gray, 19, of Merrillville. The Coroners office stated the manner of death is pending. Merrillville Police were assisted by Lake County CSI.
