Road Rage Incident Leads To Multiple Arrests

Indiana State Police and multiple other local agencies responded Friday afternoon near I-65 & 30 according to eyewitnesses. An initial call to police for a road rager driving a Suburban North on I-65 near SR 2 was made by a witness that told RNS the driver was brake checking traffic numerous times and not allowing anyone to pass. The witness was able to make their way around the driver along with multiple other vehicles, they stated. A large SUV pulling a trailer reportedly made the Suburban drive off the roadway into a grassy area, the witness told RNS. The Suburban driver apparently became more irate and begin tailgating all the vehicles that had passed him. One vehicle that was being tailgated pulled off the interstate at the Lowell exit and was followed by the Suburban. The witness said the vehicle was stopped at a light and the Suburban pulled up next to the vehicle in the grass and threw a brick at the vehicle damaging a door handle. The Suburban took off back onto I-65 North. The witness also called police at this point and police were able to make a stop on the Suburban near the Route 30 exit in Merrillville. Multiple people in the Suburban were seen being arrested according to witnesses who estimated over a dozen officers surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn from both directions of I-65. Traffic was halted briefly causing minor delays.

It’s unclear at this time on the charges or what was found in the vehicle. ISP reported a “Police Incident” in the area of 30 & 65 on Twitter and to use caution while approaching. State Police were not available for comment Friday night.
