Rolled Over Car Near Schererville Fest Injures Multiple Teens
On June 12th, 2021 at approximately 11:25 PM Schererville Police Officers and the Schererville Fire Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Joliet St in regards to a rollover accident just outside the Schererville Fest, according to Schererville Police.
The single vehicle involved in this accident had 8 juveniles inside. Four of the juveniles were transported to the hospital for injuries.
A witness who was first on scene told RNS that the driver was bleeding from his head as he exited the vehicle. The witness asked the driver if anyone else is in the vehicle to which the driver replied, “Yes a bunch.” The witness pushed the airbags out the way and found 4 more teenagers she described as mangled on top of each other who were all screaming and crying. The vehicle was smoking at that time so the witness acted quick to help get the other teens out of the vehicle.
The quick actions of the good samaritans possibly saved these teens from further injury. This investigation is still ongoing at this time, Schererville Police said Monday.
