School Bus Accident Sends One To Hospital
In Liberty Township, a Duneland School Corporation school bus was hit head-on just north of U.S. Highway 6 between Tyson Road and Wollaston Road on Meridian Road causing significant injury to the driver of the passenger vehicle ultimately being transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana, Liberty Township Fire Department stated. Students aboard the bus were uninjured and transferred to another school bus.
The passenger vehicle was northbound at around 7 o’clock this morning on Meridian Road when it crossed the center line and struck the school bus headed southbound toward U.S. Highway 6. The passenger vehicle and school bus both became disabled and unable to be driven due to the damages they had received. The passenger vehicle being severely damaged had air bags deployed in the vehicle.
