Shooting Results In Death Of Cass Township Man
Monday night (05/18/20) at approximately 8:17 PM, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 8200 west block of CR 1500 South, rural Cass Township, reference a shooting. At approximately 8:23 PM, Deputy Wade Wallace arrived at the residence. Shortly thereafter, off-duty Sergeant Tony Wallace arrived to assist. Moments later, a subject exited the residence and was immediately taken into custody, according to police.
A man with a gunshot wound was located within the interior of the residence. The victim, 33-year-old Jeremiah J. Wetzel, of Wanatah, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were summoned to assist. Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances of the shooting. The identity of the subject who is in custody is being withheld at this time. Currently, no further information is available for release.
