Shoplifter Reports Being Robbed For Stolen Goods
On January 6, at 2:38 PM, Gary Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Jackson Street for a reported robbery.
Upon arrival the officers spoke to a 35-year-old Gary man who stated that he was shoplifting from the Family Dollar Store at 500 W. 5th Ave. when he was confronted by the teller but managed to escape, police told RNS.
Moments later a male subject known to the victim drove up and at gun point demanded that he give him the items so that he could return them to the store. The victim complied, then the suspect robbed the victim of his coat and cell phone. The suspect then fled in a tan Chevy Impala.
