State Trooper Struck For The Second Time In A Week
Indiana State Trooper struck in a vehicle for the second time in less than a week in the region, according to police. The trooper from the Indiana State Police-Lowell Post was injured as a result of a rear end crash, Sgt. Glen Fifield said Friday.
Friday afternoon, Trooper William Carlson was at a crash scene providing light support for Waffco Heavy Duty Towing and Recovery on I-65 SB at the 259 mm parked on the shoulder when his vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle, Fifield stated. Trooper Carlson sustained minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital. The driver was cited for speed too fast for conditions and a learners permit violation.
“There were even road flares placed for extra lighting and warning,” police said. “These crashes are preventable! Please slow down and drive safe when approaching emergency lights and scenes,” Fifield reminded drivers.
Indiana State Police responded to dozens of accidents Friday because of the road conditions. Most were very preventable. Slow down in poor conditions and always move over for stopped vehicles.
