Possible Suspect Apprehended After Hobart Robbery

On June 21, 2021 at approximately 9:45 PM a black male entered the business, located on the 1600 block West Old Ridge Road, according to Captain James Gonzales of The Hobart Police. The victim reported that the suspect pointed a handgun at him and demanded the cash from the register, which he complied with the demand. He stated that after he gave the money to the suspect, the suspect fled from the store. 

Hobart Officers arrived on scene and began to process the scene for evidence. A Hobart K-9 Officer and his partner also responded to the scene. The K-9 Officer was able to obtain a scent of the suspect from the scene and they began to track the scent. The K-9 tracked the scent to the residence of 31 North Wilson Street, the K-9 indicated on the door of the residence and also indicated on areas in the back and the north side of the residence. 

Hobart Officers responded to 31 North Wilson Street and set up a perimeter and the on-scene commander made the decision to contact Northwest Regional Swat Team. While the Officers were waiting for SWAT to arrive, a person exited the residence, and he was taken into custody. Officers requested that the rest of the occupants exit the residence and they complied with the order with exception of one person. 

NWR SWAT arrived on scene, and they were able to assist with having the remaining occupant exit the residence peacefully and without incident.

One person is currently being held at the Hobart Police Department pending further investigation.
