As Cpl. Shaw attempted to see if the male was texting on his cell phone he got a look at the male driver’s face and recognized him from the bulletin Porter County Sheriff’s Department sent out on May 20, 2020 to surrounding agencies.

Cpl. Shaw then notified his supervisor of and waited for other units to catch up to him before he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. When Shaw had adequate back up he attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Ripley St and Marquette Rd in Lake Station, Indiana, Lake Station Police said. The Trailblazer however continued to drive fleeing from officers through Lake Station and Gary Indiana. The suspect then put the vehicle into drive and continued westbound through the yard of 1750 W. 48th Place and then northbound around a house into a wooded area and came to rest at the property’s fence line.

The suspect was then subsequently taken into custody, according to police. There were no injuries to officers or the suspect, police told RNS.

The suspect has been identified as 46 year old General Robert Radencich of Valparaiso, Indiana.
