Three Shot In Merrillville Near Gas Station Wednesday
On Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at approximately 7:00 PM, Merrillville Police Officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the area of the 7200 block of Taft Street, according to police.
Upon arrival, Merrillville Officers secured a scene near the Luke gas station and summoned medical aid for one male victim, who succumbed to his injuries in a vehicle parked. The victim has been identified as Aahric Whitehead, 20, of Merrillville.
During the course of the investigation, two additional individuals were located, who were also injured by gunfire and received medical attention, police said. These two individuals were located near 7200 Roosevelt Circle. A witness on scene saw police recover what appeared to be a rifle nearby. No further information was released.
